A Life-Changing Surgery Repairs Guatemalan Baby’s Heart Dr. Binoy Chattuparmbil
ast year, Health City Cayman Islands (HCCI) gave one international family perhaps the greatest holiday gift of all: a new chance at life for their toddler. The child from Guatemala was suffering from a serious, yet rare genetic disorder called Noonan Syndrome, which may cause symptoms including short height, congenital heart disease, abnormal facial features such as widely spaced eyes, and malformations in the skeleton.
Because of Noonan Syndrome, the child was also suffering from pulmonary valve stenosis, a disorder that causes a reduction in blood flow to the lungs. He was immediately admitted to HCCI where he underwent an elaborate six-hour surgery overseen by Cardiothoracic and Vascular Department head Dr. Binoy Chattuparambil. The procedure comes after the child’s family sought a caring and affordable hospital capable of handling what would ultimately become a complex, yet highly successful surgery.
Thanks to Dr. Binoy and the rest of the team at HCCI, the procedure solved all of the child’s heart problems and his family is grateful. To read more, please visit https://www.healthcitycaymanislands.com/life-changing-christmas-gift-surgery-repairs-guatemalan-babys-heart/.
