Shoulder Surgery for International Patients
Did you know that the shoulder is the most flexible joint in the body? With its ability to adjust in so many different positions and its optimum flexibility, the shoulder can also become injured or experience instability.
Depending on what type of injury the shoulder sustains, treatment will usually involve nonsurgical methods. However, if surgery is necessary, patients will typically be given a pair of options depending on the injury and severity: arthroscopic or open surgery. With arthroscopic surgery, an orthopedic surgeon will use a device with the thinness of a pencil attached to a lens to peer inside the joint. These images are then relayed to a monitor, allowing the surgeon to visualize and make a proper diagnosis. Open surgery typically involves small incisions of mere inches.
Common shoulder surgeries include shoulder replacement, rotator cuff repair, and biceps tendon surgery, to name a few. As one of the orthopedic surgeons at Health City Cayman Islands (HCCI), Dr. Anil Kumar Bagrecha has performed successful shoulder surgeries on adults as well as children during his many years of experience. He has also performed knee and hip procedures during his career. As part of the team of trained orthopedic surgeons at HCCI, Dr. Anil is ready to help international patients with their arthroscopic or open surgery needs.
